A Growing Future: Everything the State Budget has in Store for Cranbourne

A Growing Future: Everything the State Budget has in Store for Cranbourne

It’s been a little over a month since the Victorian Government delivered their 2023-24 State Budget…so, let’s break down some of the highlights for the Cranbourne area.

Education

Local schools are some of the biggest winners in this year’s budget, with funding allocated for upgrade works, including $1.9 million for Cranbourne Park Primary School. This will be used to upgrade sporting facilities, resurface the oval with synthetic turf, and install a running track and football and soccer area.

A further $587,000 has been granted to Cranbourne East Secondary College, which will see covers installed over 2 outdoor hardcourts so students can use them in all weather conditions.

Both projects are scheduled for completion in late 2025.

Community

As for community groups and facilities, there are a few exciting announcements, including a $1 million upgrade for Cranbourne Public Hall! A new Indian Community centre will also be built, one of two constructed under $5 million of funding.

Finally, local station Casey Radio will gain $50,000 in funding, boosting community broadcasting for the southeast community.

Health

A comprehensive women’s health clinic will be opened at Casey Hospital, giving women access to specialists including gynaecologists and urologists, alongside specialist nursing and allied health support in one spot – making it easier and faster to access world-class care.

Planning will also begin for a new Mental Health and Wellbeing Local in Cranbourne, designed to make it easier for the community to seek mental health support in a welcoming and accessible environment.
