Lovers of the arts rejoice; the Casey Winter Arts Festival is back from Saturday 11 June to Sunday 31 July with a sensational program of events! Now in its 20th year, the festival is once again set to light up our winter with a range of activations, performances and events. Think workshops, open mics, talks, musicals, songwriting competitions and more!
The southeast is positively brimming with talent and culture, with the festival providing the perfect opportunity for locals to immerse themselves in the local arts scene. Community is at the heart of the festival, with every offering in the program either run by the community, for the community or created to shine a light on Casey’s vibrant arts culture. Theatre groups, choirs, artists, dance troupes, community groups, venues and libraries throughout the City of Casey will be showcasing their talents at this year’s festival.
The main highlight of the program will be Casey Cornucopia – a never-before-seen fruit flavoured weather installation, designed by London-based food artists Bompas & Parr. This ambitious multi-sensory experience will be popping up at Bunjil Place as a 24-day mini festival, showcasing the best produce the southeast has to offer. The Cornucopia will take over the Bunjil Place Plaza, transforming it into an immersive garden abundant with oversized food sculptures hidden amongst a swirl of the world’s first edible mist! Visitors will get to see, taste and smell local produce as they’ve never experienced it before. The event is free and will run from Saturday 25 June to Sunday 17 July. Visit the Bunjil Place website to learn more.
With so much to see and do at the year’s Casey Winter Arts Festival, there’s something for everyone to enjoy! For more information, or to view the full event line-up, visit the City of Casey website.
