The Narre Warren-Cranbourne and Thompsons Road upgrade is nearing completion, with the roundabout at the intersection set to be closed from 9 January to 13 February 2023 with detours in place.
The upgrade of the intersection includes the removal of the existing roundabout and the construction of a signalised intersection, complete with 3 through lanes and 3 turning lanes on each approach.
New paths for pedestrians and cyclists will be built as part of the upgrade, providing a safer area for locals to walk and cycle.
Traffic conditions will change during this time, with detours in place via Berwick-Cranbourne Road and the South Gippsland Highway. Motorists are advised to allow an extra 20 minutes for their journey.
The closure of the roundabout will allow construction workers to complete 5 months’ worth of work in just 5 weeks and in turn, provide Cranbourne with improved traffic flow and reduced travel times.
